I went back and read the book's description of the overall environment and drew a rough map. It is described in the book as follows: "Anning's plan was told to me before the departure, and I found that it was exactly in accordance with Wenjin's route, starting from Dunhuang and entering the area of Qarhan Lake through Da Qaidan, where it left the road and entered the uninhabited area of the Qaidam Basin." West Queen Mother's lair snake swamp ghost town is deep in the rain forest, endless and smoky rain forest, swampy, hallucinatory gas coming... "

You can divide the main character's adventure route into two sections in "Snake Marsh Ghost City"

The first half of the route exists in reality: Dunhuang - Great Qaidam - Qarhan Lake area - leaving the uninhabited area of the Qaidam Basin on the highway

The second half of the route is impossible to verify: Lankou village - Devil City - along the ancient river - cliff - oasis below the cliff - canyon - swamp - the entrance of the West Queen Mother City - the site of the royal city in the swamp hinterland

This is the actual distribution of landforms.

Later, I combined with the content of the book for more detailed analysis, and drew a basic road map of the protagonist group's exploration.

Qaidam Basin is one of the three major inland basins in China. It is a huge closed mountain discontinuous basin, surrounded by the vast Gobi desert and devoid of human habitation. They enter here.

The first stretch of road

1. Dunhuang

3. Qaidam Basin uninhabited area:

Qaidam Basin is one of the three major inland basins in China

It is a huge closed mountain discontinuous basin surrounded by the vast Gobi desert, and there is no human habitation.

In the second half of the book, there are no direct locations in Qinghai and Gansu, but according to the original description, some of the same scenery can be found in real life.

The devil city is also called the wind city, is a large rock carved out of the wind of the strange terrain, a large area, the distribution of a large number of strange rock mountains, can give people to imagine a variety of strange things, and when the wind blows over these rocks, because of the distribution of the relationship, will emit a ghost crying Wolf voice, so called the devil city. 

There is a place in Urhe District, Karamay City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, which is called the Devil City of Karamay. This is a desolate and mysterious Yadan landscape. It is praised by China National Geographic as one of the "three most beautiful and beautiful landforms in China". In 2020, it will become a national 5A tourist attraction.
